A safe way to do Follow/Unfollow without triggering Instagram's action blocks
Hey everyone,
Like a lot of you, I still use the follow/unfollow method to grow my account, but I was constantly terrified of getting flagged or shadowbanned for automation.
While trying to clean up my following list on my train commute, I noticed a loophole: if you open an Instagram profile from an external link rather than clicking through the IG app rapidly, Instagram doesn't flag you as a bot. You avoid the rate limits.
Since every third-party unfollow app asks for your password (which is an instant ban these days), I built a simple web tool to automate this external-link trick for my own workflow even better on desktop it can open multiple tab if you have a mac you can navigate quickly between tabs using cmd + option + arrow -> or <- and hit unfollow on each (it takes litterally 20 seconds to unfollow 50 people depending on how fast you go)
You just drop in your official IG data export (no login required). It shows exactly who isn't following you back, and lets you batch-open their profiles externally so you can manually unfollow them in seconds without triggering spam filters.
If anyone else is struggling with action blocks while cleaning up their following list, you can use it here:ghostlist.app
Let me know if this helps your growth workflow!
