Matthew Schleier (Iowa, July 2026): An Iowa judge found Matthew Schleier not guilty by reason of insanity for strangling his 5-year-old son. The defense proved he suffered from severe psychosis and acted on delusions. The court sent him to a mental health institute for treatment instead of prison.
