A Popular Biryani Outlet Served the Worst Biryani...

Food & Beverage | খাওয়া-দাওয়া 🐟🥭🍺

Some weeks ago, I went to Anirban's Biryani (D Bapi) at the Sodepur branch and ordered a Chicken Biryani for takeaway.

I noticed that they had increased the price to Rs 290. The last time I ate there it was Rs 240. I also asked for an extra aloo.

One guy took the chicken biryani from one of the biryani handis and packed it.

Another guy put on a plastic on his hand and picked up the extra aloo from a separate handi placed beside the main one.

I specifically noticed that he picked a particular aloo, almost as if he already knew which one he wanted to pick. It wasn't like he put his hand into the handi and simply took whichever aloo he happened to reach first. It genuinely seemed like he knew which one he was going to pick beforehand lol.

I came back home and took the first bite.

The biryani didn't taste fresh and good at all. In fact based on the taste, it seemed like it was at least a day or two old.

I know what freshly cooked food tastes like because I know cooking and could cook some really good dishes, so I know the difference between freshly cooked and stale.

The chicken was a big piece, but it wasn't particularly good in taste.

The aloo from the Chicken Biryani was nice, but the extra aloo was extremely hard. I couldn't even break it properly. That's when I started wondering whether they had deliberately given me a damaged aloo as the extra one.

So, what I'm trying to say is that they've increased the price, but the quality and freshness doesn't justify it.

I've also eaten at Dada Boudi branch in Sodepur and they are not at the level of the Barrackpore branch either. And yes Barrackpore branch's taste is not what it used to be in the past... :/

I'm yet to try Aminia and Shimla Biryani.

What has been your experience been like with Anirban's Biryani (D Bapi), Shimla Biryani, and Aminia?
