X-Men characters that have outgrown the X-Men

Im not an X-Men fan, i just started reading Magik solo series and it got me wondering; Does Magik still work in X-Men setting? I feel like there's some characters like her and Storm that have outgrown the X-Men, be it in terms of powers or story. Are there any characters that you think in the same position as these two?
