Planar.jl is a trading bot written in julia
Hello, I have a trading bot / framework in julia at https://github.com/BubbleParticles/Planar.jl
It started a few years ago, manually, written, then continued with AI.
It uses CCXT for exchange connection (both REST and WS support)
Recently changed the bot from python bindings to a separate self hosted ccxt-gateway, now julia loading is much faster and there are no segfaults caused by python integration. The python module is kept around to use at discretion of the strategy if needed.
The ccxt gateway is multiprocess based on 1 exchange per process, this makes it more stable and allows to restart exchange connections separately (in case of memory leaks).
I considered a go version of the gateway, but I think the go transpilation of ccxt is still not mature enough.
I also made a PR for julia transpilation of CCXT, but ccxt-gateway I think is better with an interpreted language because it doesn't force you to load all exchanges ahead of time (I don't think the other AOT languages supported by ccxt use DLLs for exchanges), and you still retain the option to apply exchanges hotfixes.
Initially I also choose the separation to support hummingbot, but today I think its better to add the remaining exchanges that hummingbot offers to ccxt with PRs.
Main backtest is purely sequential and stateful such that any strategy code works with it.
Considered adding a second simpler vectorized backtest codepath to run on GPUs, but I think GPUs are better used to train models to use in your strategies
Currently remote control with tg bots only. Planning to build a dashboard.
There is also plotting support, but considering going forward the framework is going to be used by AI with MCP I am not sure how useful it is.
Goal is for the bot to manage many strategy running at once at the same time and have proper backtest/paper/live pipelines.
