KCL changed my room allocation without telling me??

I was allocated a room at King’s Residences in April, but my room has now been changed without me receiving any notification or email from King’s. I had already spent months getting to know my assigned flatmates and making plans to live with them. I’ve contacted King’s to ask if there’s another room available in the same flat, but I’m wondering if anyone knows whether they can change your allocation like this and if there’s anything else I can do.
