So nervous

Workplace Challenges and Conflicts

I’ve just accepted a new job two weeks ago and agreed to do 8-6 shifts. I’ve sent a text to my manager asking if I can do 8-5pm instead and now I’m so nervous waiting for a reply. I don’t know what the purpose of this Reddit is other than to get it out somewhere that I’m worrying that I’ve been unreasonable in asking this.
I’m struggling at the moment with the recent loss of my dad, I’m consumed with grief. I was polite in the text and made it clear I understand if she can’t offer me this. I have a 2 year old daughter and I’m worried about not being able to do any nursery pick ups and just being away from her for such a long time each day. She’s seen the message and not answered yet, now I’m just so anxious waiting for her response, I’m worried she will be annoyed with me and then that will make it awkward when I go back next week. Ugh. Hate this kind of shit.
