Disappointed, but still hopeful

When a person comes from a tier-2 or tier-3 city to a metro or tier-1 city, they naturally have certain expectations not just from the city but also from its people, and I came here with the same expectations. However, the reality has been very different. The more I interact with people, the more I realize that many of the people I grew up around were far more civilized in their thinking and conduct. This is not about people having opinions different from mine; it is about being blatantly prejudiced against others because of where they come from, the language they speak, or even their gender. What shocked me the most was the way some people talk about women, the comments they pass among themselves about women walking by or even on social media. The city is new to me and so is the crowd but I feel fortunate to have grown up around people who taught me values, respect, and how to be a better person. I can have zero friends here, but I cannot go below the belt just to blend in with the crowd. Please prove me wrong Delhi NCR I still have a lot of expectations from you.
