Your pump probably came with the wrong flange size

Sharing research

Pumps usually come with 24 mm (some have 27/28) flanges and lactation consultants often find most women fall in between measuring from 15 to 19. This was just a design choice made while manufacturing. So, no this wasn’t me trying to make sure all my customers fit perfectly…

A wrong size will lead to rubbing/pain, having half your areola being dragged in the tunnel, low outputs on a pump which has excellent reviews. So definitely check yours! Measure your nipple’s diameter NOT the whole areola right after a session where your areola/nipple are at their pumping size.

If you get a lower measurement than the one you already have, don’t buy yourself a brand new pump!! You can use silicone inserts for a few dollars and they will scale down the flanges.

Pumped in pain for 9 weeks thinking that this would be the size! 🤯 (Assuming the size in the box)
