Another time for me having to explain my 2027 Oscar predictions. A lot has changed over the past few months. My acting predictions changed A LOT, and i even joined aboard to the Elsinore hype train. But anyways, with that being said, here's what changed about my Oscar predictions. As usual, i'm gonna explain the main ones i have on the images:

Best Picture: after seeing the incredible historical masterpiece film that was Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, i'm going to put my faith on it winning best picture FOR NOW. I don't know how far can we go to have this movie being a lock for Best Picture win without any other movie like La Bola Negra or Wild Horse Nine barging in. As for them, La Bola Negra seems to be a huge crowdpleaser, which i'm planning to see. So it gets second place and a potential winner if The Odyssey's momentum slows down (this film will be a great spanish language film, i can feel it). Wild Horse Nine sounds like it could be awesome. I said "it could" as in the sense that i'm getting from people not liking it at first glance because of the trailer. But we'll see when it premieres at Venice. I even liked the film’s clip Searchlight uploaded on YouTube. Also, while looking back, i've had Behemoth!, The Debut and Disclosure Day on my past Oscars predictions and i can say that i have lost some hope for Behemoth! and The Debut in some major categories and i can also definitely say that Disclosure Day is out of my Best Picture predictions. The Debut, however, still has chance in other categories. And i can definitely see it winning one of them. In their places, i've put Obsession, The Invite and Elsinore. Elsinore just looks like the type of breakout film that comes close to a Top 3 films of the year kind of thing (and apparently, Andrew Scott's performance is good in this film. This is coming from sources who have seen it btw). One last thing is that Digger seems to be losing momentum after the trailer's minor backlash. But i'm still keeping it in hopes of the film being a critical darling over the early test screenings that deemed the movie to be mixed to positive in some cases.

Best Director: i was really going for WH9 to win Best Picture, but now that i've seen The Odyssey, i'm going for the film to win Best Picture and its director Christopher Nolan to win Best Director. After him, i have Los Javis from La Bola Negra as a close second. I'm starting to think Martin McDonagh's only strength in Oscar categories is in screenplay. I'm still sticking with Alejandro González Iñárritu and Cristian Mungiu in this category even though their films seem to be weak for now. Fjord is weaker but we'll see if it keeps its momentum come fall festivals.

Best Actress: i'm actually feeling confident in an Inde Navarrette win in Best Actress since her performance in Obsession is starting to gain success and acclaim. But i also wouldn’t mind a Julianne Moore win for The Debut, since i think the film will be fantastic in terms of performances. I still think Renate Reinsve will be given a nomination for Best Actress due to the Palme d’Or win and because Renate Reinsve already established herself in Sentimental Value, but i will say this: Fjord is in a pretty tight position right now. As for new additions, i have Olivia Wilde from The Invite and Sandra Hüller from Rose in the category. If Sandra Hüller's campaign for Rose gets enough big recognition status in the same way she got from the Berlin Festival, she’s guaranteed for that Oscar nomination. The only problem is if Rose will be as much big of an international film as films like The Secret Agent or It Was Just An Accident were at the Oscars.

Best Actor: this feels like a no-brainer once again. At least that's what i think if Digger doesn’t flop. Matt Damon was also incredible in The Odyssey so i consider him a close second. The new addition is Andrew Scott from Elsinore. Although i don't necessarily think the film should be that great for Oscar wins, i still think Andrew Scott will receive acclaim thanks to the articles talking about his campaign for Elsinore and that should guarantee his path to an Oscar nomination.

Best Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway will 100% win Best Supporting Actress given her performance in The Odyssey. As for Wild Horse Nine's Mariana di Girolamo, although i've heard rumors that she was given little screen time in the film, i still think she'll get nominated either way but i also still don't think that she should win. I also traded Penélope Cruz for Lola Dueñas in La Bola Negra and have Penélope Cruz going for The Invite nomination instead. Lastly, if Andrew Scott gets nominated then i also think Olivia Colman should get nominated for Elsinore as well. She plays Ian Charleson's doctor.

Best Supporting Actor: i've decided that it is time for a Paul Giamatti win. His character in The Debut is just gonna be so good that i had to. I've also removed Steve Buscemi and replaced him with John Leguizamo from The Odyssey. I loved some of the supporting performances from the film, and i particularly enjoyed the performance of John Leguizamo as Eumaeus. And he seems the likely choice for Best Supporting Actor nomination for The Odyssey, so that's why i'm predicting him. Although, i would love to see if Steve Buscemi still gets nominated for Wild Horse Nine even if his screentime is short.

Best Original Screenplay: nothing has changed aside from Elsinore getting in. Elsinore could be a great film based on its screenplay, although if this is considered a biopic then i guess it should get nominated for Adapted since it's based on the life of Ian Charleson, the actor.

Best Adapted Screenplay: i still have La Bola Negra winning but i also wouldn’t mind if i swapped it with The Odyssey. And i've also added The Invite in this category too.

Best Casting: i still have La Bola Negra winning this too. The cast is so diverse and contains unknown talents like Lola Dueñas. I'm also all in for Obsession to get nominated since Inde Navarrette is not the only person to be discovered in the cast of the film, i think.

Best International Feature: about this category, i have Fjord (which i don't see how it could be international, given the film's amount of english language for the majority), Possible Love and Rose. These three should make it quite the way in the International Feature category.

Best Animated Feature: an addition i have to this category is Iron Boy, which won the Un Certain Regard special jury prize at Cannes. This should be the only international animated film to be nominated in this category.

Anyways, these were my updated Oscar predictions for this month. What do you guys think?
