MerTes don't deserve this hate
Hey guys, just wanted to share my thoughts on the whole Eylul-Ates-Mercan scenario and S2 so far.
i would like to clarify that I absolutely understand Eylul's trauma and everything she went through, it was not easy. Like Ates and Mercan, she did not deserve to got through all that. And in the beginning of S2, she was one of my favourite characters in the show because she was so sassy and unique. And I wished to see more of Ates and Eylul's sibling bond and banter.
But her recent behaviour in the show is giving me the ick. I am losing my sympathy for Eylul. And I have valid reasons for that, before you throw tomatoes at me, let me go through them :-
- Eylul blaming Ates and Mercan
Omg this is so baseless, I cannot even understand why the heck is Eylul even blaming Ates or Mercan for everything she suffered. First of all, let's discuss Ates. Tahir was an eight year old child who literally saw hsi sister being dragged away by their tr*ffickers, and then he was legit presented with a grave that belonged to his sister. Of course he thight that his sister was unalived. He was not some divine mystic with magical third eye power to know the truth, he was just a child who went through a lot. And Tahir knew that Haydar was very well capable of harming Eylul, so of course he didn't question that!
Coming to Mercan, she was also just a 5 year old child who was suffering from a life threatening disease at such a young age. She didn't even know anything about what Tahir and Eylul were going through, so why is she getting blamed? She had no role in the transplant, she didn't know Haydar was going to get transplant from Eylul and harm her. So, why is Eylul blaming Mercan as if Mercan herself snatched away Eylul's kidney?
- Eylul being jealous of Mercan and her bond with Ates 😭?
I don't get why is Eylul jealous of Mercan and her bond with Ates. And no one can deny that Eylul is jealous/irritated by the care Ates shows for Mercan. We have seen this in the show and Eylul herself has made remarks on this.
Like bro Mercan is his WIFE, his love of life. Ofcourse he would want to protect her and care for her. Mercan and supported Ates through every obstacle, every situation. She legit went against her father to marry him, she healed Ates and encouraged him to move on with his grief, she accepted him even after all the pain Ates put her through, she was kind to him even when he was being a bully, Mercan is the reason why Ates experienced love and happiness for the first time in his life. And so much more. Why shouldn't Ates care for her, or prioritize her?
Eylul has tried to harm Mercan directly or indirectly in her anger, so Ates is right in his place to worry for Mercan's well-being and stopping Eylul from harming her. Why would he let Mercan get hurt? Why would he endanger her?
And it's not like Ates doesn't care for Eylul. He does. But everytime he tries to do something nice for Eylul, she is the one who disrespect his efforts and pushed him away with hostility. But that's our next point.
- Eylul devaluing Ates and Mercan's efforts
I understand that it is difficult for Eylul to process everything. She has suffered for no reason at all. And obviously she cannot accept Ates as her brother and Mercan's transplant truth so easily.
But everytime Ates or Mercan try to do something for Eylul, she insults them, blames them and trashes their efforts with no care. Like MerTes are repeatedly trying to help her, understand her and make things better. I mean the least Eylul can do is to respectfully say that she needs some time and space? But all she does is yelling, insulting and blaming MerTes for things they didn't do.
And Eylul takes everything, every effort in a negative way. Like for example Ates talked to her about therapy and professional help, and her first reaction was "now you think I am mad".
Tbh Eylul isn't the only one who suffered. Ates and Mercan did too. They all were just innocent children caught up in this misery, but Eylul is behaving as if only she suffered and MerTes were partying every day in these 20 years and enjoying their life, when the truth is that Mercan and Ates suffered same.
- Eylul doing things to rile up and hurt Ates
Don't get me started on this. How is it that Eylul has no problem with Saliha, who ab#sed her since a young age and is even defending her, but is so disrespectful to the brother who is trying his best to help her?
And not only that, Eylul knows that Hazar is dangerous and he is invading every place where Ates is present, yet she invited him to the house, wore the dress he gave to her and talks to him. She is not only hurting Ates but knowingly putting him in danger. What kind of sister is she?
Also Eylul fans saying that Ates is a bad brother because he is choosing Mercan over her, not giving Eylul same level of care of that he gives Mercan, he doesn't deserve to be called a brother or be with Eylul is disgusting. That man devoted his entire life to get justice for his sister, he sacrificed 20 years of his life suffering in pain and burning in revenge, he wasn't ready to move on and be happy until Mercan came. Yet he is the one getting called names just because he is protecting his wife, which is totally valid after what Eylul has done.
I genuinely feel bad for Ates because he is getting hate from everywhere. People would hate him if he chose his sister, and people are hating him if he's protecting his wife. What should he even do at this point. In the starting people were hating on him for spending time with Eylul. And people were actually saying disgusting shit likee should marry his sister etc 😖.
And i have also seen people call Mercan self centred, selfish, and that she is interfering in Ates and Eylul's bond, she is making everything about herself, playing victim etc. Mercan is trying her best to help Ates and Eylul, and trying to make their bond normal. Despite all the hate and blame Eylul has put against her, she is still compassionate to her. It's not her fault that Eylul is taking everything in a negative way.
Seriously, Mercan and Ates don't deserve the hate they're getting.
