Can that scene from "Vanessassary Roughness" be considered a Disproportionate Retribution?
I am talking about the scene near the beginning of an episode where the biker tries to make a pass on Vanessa, which results in him being sent to an alternate dimension by Doof and getting whacked with a rubber mallet held by a giant baby alien.
While I agree with this moment being an example of Doof being Papa Wolf, I don't really think this scene can be considered Laser-Guiding Karma or Even Evil Has Standards. I think it makes more sense as Disproportionate Retribution.
The recap page of that episode on TV Tropes seems to suggest that you are supposed to side with Doof and think that the biker got what he deserved because he was an adult man flirting with a teenage girl, but really? I have watched that clip and this guy speaks doesn't look and sound like a grown ass man. To me, he looks and sounds like a teenager. In the USA, you must be at least 14 to 16 years old to ride a motorcycle on public roads. Wouldn't it make more sense if the biker was a stupid teenager whose only crime was trying to impress the daughter of the mad scientist, rather than some creepy pervert? While I understand why TV Tropes would support Doof's reaction-for all his flaws, he genuinely loves his daughter and he wouldn't like seeing a random stranger flirting with Vanessa-I don't really think you are supposed to side with Doof. After all, this is the same guy who is willing to use very dangerous inventions for petty reasons (imagine how many innocent people could have died if some of his plans succeeded) and who in at least one possible future became a genuinely evil dictator. He may be a sympathetic and laughable villain, but he is still a villain up untill the show's end. Banishing some random teenage boy to a dimension where he could be trapped forever would not be out-of-character for him.
Also, it's not like the biker was stalking Vanessa or trying to flirt with her even after she made it clear that she doesn't like him. All he did was ask her if she would like to ride with him. That's not illegal and it's not even evil. Yet, according to TV Tropes, he is somehow the villiain who deserves to be banished to another dimension and possibly crushed to death by the alien baby? I don't think so.
Besides, I doubt Disney would allow Marsh and Povenmire to have an adult man flirt with a teenage girl in the children's show. This is not Adult Swim.
