Impossible task

Workplace Challenges and Conflicts

I work in QA/QI at a healthcare company, and we are trying to prep for our reaccreditation. My boss gave me a list of documents we need to have ready and available when the surveyors come by, and I don’t think she realized how much she’s asking for.

She gave me three lists, and said she wanted each list in its own single binder. I don’t think she’s actually read what is being requested though, because two of the lists require so much paperwork that there’s no way I can fit it even into one gigantic binder. Then, most of the stuff on the list I either don’t have access to, or don’t even know where to go for it. I’ve told her multiple times that I cannot do this on my own and there’s a lot on here that I will not be able to get, she directed me to a resource that “tells you exactly what document you need”. When I read through the resource, it doesn’t tell you what you need, it just gives an extremely vague description of what they might be looking for.

I don’t know what to do at this point. I’ve asked for help so many times and have been transparent about the fact that I cannot do all of this, and I keep getting brushed off. I’m waking up at night panicking and sweating thinking about it, I haven’t even been able to do my regular job duties because I’ve spent every second of the last two weeks trying to gather things for what I can get, and I’m still no where close to being done.

Then they keep stacking more tasks on me, despite me saying I don’t have any time to do anything else. I have to hold back tears multiple times a day. I don’t know what to do at this point. What am I supposed to do besides ask for help?
