Weird situation
I’m mostly just looking to get opinions on this. The gym I’m at had a huge split early this year. Basically there was some disagreement with ownership and the instructors so a couple of the instructors opened their own school and took most of the peeps with them.
I was still in contract for a few months so I stuck around. I ended up switching jobs and started making less $. I was going to find a cheaper gym but the new instructor offered free membership if I helped teach a couple kid classes a week, basically just be the test dummy. It has been cool but the numbers for the adult classes haven’t rebounded. Sometimes I’m the only person training, others times there might be 3 or 4 others.
All that is just some context. Last night there was a newer lady (mid 40’s reasonably athletic for her age) with us. It was me, the front desk gal, who has been training for just a bit, and the newer lady. She showed to a few classes months ago but then stopped. She was telling me before class it was because she had been nervous. I tried to explain I went through the same thing. Anyway she was struggling a bit which should be expected but the professor got PISSED. Literally mad she wasn’t getting it, not just a little sigh or non verbal cues but full on berating her. I tried to clam it down but it did nothing. It was super awkward and weird. I left feeling shitty and can only imagine how she felt.
I talked to him a bit about it after class and he was still pissed. There is somewhat of a langue barrier but he was saying he thinks she was on drugs or something. She definitely wasn’t.
I don’t really school being successful at this point. I can’t care more than the main instructor. His bjj is a high level but that doesn’t translate to good customer service and what not. Should I just leave? What would you guys do?
