Should I become a network infrastructure engineer
Hello, I am early into my power engineering carrier and I have the opportunity to go into our infrastructure department as a network engineer in our SCADA department. Or I can follow the more traditional route for our company and become some kind of power distribution engineer.
While I find both interesting I definitely find the IT side of things more interesting than power engineering so would rather be a network engineer, but I don’t really know much about the IT world and its job prospects ect.
My main question is, is my job safe as a network engineer or is AI coming for me? Is it easy to find well paid senior roles in the uk? Is the industry growing ect.
Because my job as a power distribution engineer will be very safe and well paid I’m just wondering if it’s clever to “switch” carrier paths.
