Successful cycle… but thinking of turning it all down

Cycle Results 🤯

Hello! Im a current undergrad senior applying to medical school, and I’ve had a successful cycle so far, getting 2 T20 interviews and 6 total so far.

However, my whole undergrad I’ve been so gung ho on getting in, that I haven’t really critically thought about the profession. I enjoy learning about medicine, but am a little bit naturally introverted and have some anxiety. I don’t know if I can handle the stressors of being PIMPed all day and not knowing anything throughout M3/residency years.

My sister, ten years older than me and a resident, also tried to commit suicide three times over the last five years, and I’m so scared of being depressed or suicidal in the future. I’ve never been depressed, but the thought of putting myself through something that intense and demanding makes me really scared I will become unsatisfied with my life and depressed as well. Maybe a lower stress, lesser hour office job is better for me.

I enjoy math perhaps a little bit more than health, and have an economics double major. I was thinking of applying to corporate and economics internships this summer and trying to switch to those industries.

Are these thoughts normal? I’m really scared and caught between two worlds right now. I’m ambitious as well, and the thought of passing up a guaranteed career for entry level banking positions (where internships are far from guaranteed as well) scares me.
