Trying to figure out what people are saying is actually fun, and it’s way better than everyone being direct all the time.

One of the things I enjoyed the most when I read Shakespeare in high school was the process of figuring out what he was trying to say. It was like learning a new language. I think this led to me really enjoying piecing together what people are really saying.

I enjoy paying attention to tone and context. I like trying to listen for what people are making sure not to say. I like hearing a phrase that I’ve never heard before and trying to make sense of it.

People that are direct and clear about everything are fine, but I’ll take non-directness any day.
