Lower back issues - mind twisting

I’ve got stenosis (mild) at L4/5 on the right side. Most my symptoms are pain, tingling and pins and needles in my feet that is better when I move around move and worse when I stand/sit. Sitting I can only do in 30 minute blocks, up from 5/10 minutes a couple of years ago. I spend half my working day upright:sitting/standing and half on the bed or floor with a lay flat desk. I have been offered surgery to open the nerve space up on my right have side (laminotomy) - I have seen a second surgeon for a second opinion (highly regarded) and he has agreed a good idea. I have on some days mild to sharp shooting pains down my right leg but these have gotten better in recent months. I have just got a date for surgery (end of October) and I’m so on the fence. I’m limited in daily life and in pain but my surgeon reckons the op is likely to only remove my sharp sciatic pain and is less likely to do anything for my bi-lateral burning. It’s the hi-lateral burning that really bugs me and knocks me off my feet. I’m so confused, I don’t know what to do anymore. I’m over the pain, but I’ve found a way to live within my tiny bubble of ability and it’s become comfortable. I am afraid to do the op, I don’t want to end up worse but deep down so much of me would like to be the dad my kids need and the husband my wife deserves and I would love to travel again.

My heads a mess, it’s eating me and half of me wants to run away from it all, the surgery, the medications, life and the other half wants to run head on into it. Urgh, at 35 I never wanted or expected to be here. I guess I’m just chucking it all out here for anyone and everyone to hear, more for my own sanity.

Anyone else been somewhere similar?
