Would it be safe for me to use the wifi router in my dorm?

Basically i moved into a dorm and (i assume) the last residents or the dorm owners left behind a perfectly good router (i assume its the dorm administrators cuz it was plugged into the wall when i moved in). How do i know if it is safe to use?
