High humidity in bedroom
Hi all, let my preface by saying I’m ignorant in the field of HVAC, have very little “homeowner” knowledge (though am a renter). I am here to have wisdom bestowed upon me and to learn.
My small bedroom has a Mitsubishi MSZ-GL06NA mini split in it. As of this summer our room humidity has been around 82%. I noted this to my landlord and they had a technician come in. The tech said “you know it’s humid out, right?”, flushed the drain line, and left.
(Landlord left a dehumidifier which we have been running but it has jacked up my electrical bill)
I understand it’s very humid in the north east, 80-90% everyday lately. Although this still seems off to me, here’s why..
This system has a continuous fan setting that I don’t believe can be switched off, so when the temperature is reached the cooling effect stops and the fan continues to run. When it’s running, it’s blowing humid air back into to room, you can watch the humidity climb from 60-80 in minutes.
I did some troubleshooting to help myself understand. I typically run the thermostat at 70 cool, auto, all day. The other night I ran the thermostat down to 68, it cooled the room and took the humidity down to 58-60. After that I flipped the breaker and went to bed. When I woke up the humidity was still around 62-65. So my thoughts on the fan blowing humid air seem to be justified.
Can someone’s enlighten me on what might be going on here?
