How uncommon is it that I knew about Syd Matters before I knew about Life is Strange?

From what I’ve noticed it seems as if most (or at least a good amount of) Syd Matters fans have come from the Life is Strange games, meanwhile i found them because of a post on r/outerwilds that was pointing out how Obstacles sounds like one of the game's soundtracks Timber Hearth.

I find it a little funny and just wanted to share this and maybe know a bit more :)
