Did a pistol caliber firearm exist that used a deep chamber as a sudo delaying mechanism?

I'm working on a game passion project with some friends and wanted to used some real world lesser know weapons but it also needs some craft production or work shop guns and I wanted them to be somewhat believable because they will be seen disassembled and have a description on how they work.

Is there a gun or would it even work to have a long extention off the bolt the size of the chamber and a long, maybe some gas rings on the extention. The time it takes to extract the case down the long chamber would allow pressure in the barrel to drop. Im not saying it would be perfect but im thinking more along the lines of Chauchat. Something not particularly good but compact and easy to produce.

I was looking at the Thomson submachine gun and that long narrow end on the bolt when I had the idea.
