I've searched the sub, and no results came up for the "Davenport Dynapod".

In 1971, Arthur Clyde Davennport filed a patent in Britain, titled "Articulated vessels". The patent specifically describes a sealed chamber that could function as an airship gas bag, constructed from pyramidal components, joined by sealed hinges.

In 1974, Davenport presented the Variable Density Aircraft Concept at the Interagency Workshop on Lighter than Air Vehicles, held in California. This workshop was an interagency governmental and industry technical meeting, financed by the DOT, the US Navy, the FAA, and NASA, under the title "Military Applications of Rigid Airships" and "Missions for Lighter than Air Ships."

Davenport presented his Dynapod Concept, which was attended by military and aerospace personnel. \[Direct link to PDF of everything that was presented at this Workshop\](https://ntrs.nasa.gov/api/citations/19760007927/downloads/19760007927.pdf) More info can be found \[Here\](https://ntrs.nasa.gov/citations/19760007927)

The Dynapod was described as a variable volume hill, with a hinged structure that changes its volume and therefore it's buoyancy.

In 1977, ,Davenport was approved a patent for his diamond shaped lighter than air "Dynapod."

However, this was just a V1, and Davenport had plans for a fully symmetrical diamond aerostat, to reduce drag, improve behaviour in crosswinds and provide a stable platform for sensors.

Anyone look at those documents, and see the cross section could possibly be the Calvine UAP... and an evolution of this concept to a full symmetrical diamond?

Interestingly, an unknown person filed a patent for exactly that, in 2002, termed a "Dynastat."

Anyone ever hear about the 1971 "Dynapod" ? Could it possibly a pre-cursor to the Calvine UAP?
