$40k budget and no idea what to buy
My 360k mile GMT800 is starting to have major mechanical problems and I need to replace it pretty soon so I haven’t had as much time as I’d like to research everything myself nor am i a huge car guy. I have 760 credit score and would prefer something new or certified preowned with a warranty but im open to anything.
Right now I’m mainly looking at:
- Ford Maverick Hybrid
- Honda CR-V Hybrid
- Toyota RAV4 Hybrid
- Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid
My biggest priorities are:
- Good fuel economy
- Good AWD performance I drive to remote areas that get pretty bad snowfall in the winter but nothing crazy.
- Long-term reliability
- Lots of space since I’m a bigger/taller guy 6'2 290
- Being able to carry 4 people
I also carry a lot of tools with me so the more cargo space the better. I put a lot of miles on my vehicle and hit 7,000 miles over this month but im not expecting to drive that much every month/year i also idle vehicles a lot when working especially in the winter where theres no power/heat except for in the car so onboard power and heated seats would be cool but isnt a dealbreaker.
I’m trying to keep the total price around $40k or less, and I’d obviously like to spend less if I can without giving up too much. Really unsure what brands are even good these days any help is appreciated.
