Trying to Apply to Job After Amazon

Worked for Amazon for years, and at this point will likely go back because truly very little out there without completeing a new degree, but something I've noticed:

It's damn near impossible for anyone to really verify you worked here. The work number they give is confusing, and it's hard to explain to interviewers that, no, I don't know who my manager is/was, I don't know if they're still there, there is NO way for you to get in contact with them. It really makes it seem like your lying, and I wouldn't be surprised if it cost my a few job offers.

Has anyone else run into this?
