Hi everyone!

I'm actually not totally brand new to life in Lithuania. I stayed in Vilnius for almost a year during 2020 (yeah, not the greatest time) and I loved it to bits!

I know it's a fast moving country with a somewhat vertical growth, so I believe things have changed since then. I'm curious to know how. I used to live in Didlaukio gatve, then I moved in Olandu (I was an Erasmus student).

I really miss the country and its vibe, I am now in my late 20s. When I was there I talked to many young Lithuanians and they complained that companies would only hire foreigners in tech and IT, is it still like that? (I might move to Lithuania for that very reason, sadly)

I remember Vilnius being extremely cool in its nightlife and events. I am a big music fan and I could go to niche tech venues and experimental jazz alike (I miss going to the Empty Brain Resort).

Most of all, I clearly remember that making friends with locals was not easy at all. I am worried that by being alone and almost 30 life could be lonely. Is the "foreign" community big? Would learning Lithuanian help me integrate in the country? Is Vilnius (or Kaunas / Klaipeda) good for people in their late 20s / early 30s?

Last, but not least, I do speak Russian (I studied it long before the war), I could talk to a lot of non-English speakers with it back then. I imagine the sentiment towards the language has changed, it already used to be sometimes frowned upon. I almost never had any problems speaking in Russian with taxi drivers or old ladies at kiosks, but once or twice I was almost threatened when I did. Would I still be able to do that?

Thanks a lot in advance!

How is living in Vilnius?
