I built a Chrome extension that checks every URL in an XML sitemap for 404s, redirects & HTTP errors
I work with websites and SEO, and one thing that always felt unnecessarily painful was checking large XML sitemaps.
If a sitemap contains hundreds or thousands of URLs, finding 404s, redirects, and HTTP errors can become a tedious process.
So I built a small Chrome extension that lets you validate an XML sitemap directly from the browser.
It currently checks:
- ✅ 200 / working URLs
- ❌ 404 / broken URLs
- ↪️ 301 / 302 redirects
- ⚠️ 4xx / 5xx responses
- 🔍 Sitemap URL issues
- 📊 Overall sitemap results
It's completely free.

I'm mainly looking for feedback at this stage.
If you work with SEO, websites, or large sitemaps, what would you add to this tool?
Also happy to answer any technical questions about how I built the extension.
