How to start a novel with a dream scene

Are there any tips for starting a novel with a dream?

I want to open my novel with the protagonist having a short but meaningful dream and then waking up. But I recently heard that starting a novel with a dream can be difficult to pull off well, so I was wondering if anyone has any advice.
