Dog Attack at shopping centre

I hadn’t seen the lovely lady who cleans our building for 3 weeks and went to say hi when I noticed her in the lobby. When I stood in front of her I noticed massive scars across her cheek and forehead and a swollen blackened cheek. She explained that she was attached at her local shopping centre by a dog.

She’s a very gentle soul, softly spoken with limited english and fairly new to Australia. She explained that the people whose dog attached her stayed with her until that ambulance arrived and then went with her to the hospital.

I don’t want to involve myself in her business but I also don’t want her to be taken advantage of or miss out on support that she might be entitled to because she doesn’t want to rock the boat.

The scars are fairly confronting and I feel terrible that she’ll likely be dealing with the consequences of this attach for the rest of her life.

Is she due compensation from anyone for this attack and is there an agency I can point her in the direction of that would be able to support her? I understand that there’s also potential for this to have been a DV situation but from listening to her recount the story I feel the dog attack is much more likely.
