Felv positive cat
Hi, my male cat is 5yo, strictly indoor cat, never had significant weight loss or change in behavior, was interned about 2 years ago for a pancreatitis but no other big health scare.
My other two cats follow the same schedule and care.
So, on to the real problem: they donated blood recently and the blood bank does lab tests, pcr and serology tests.
They test for FIV and FELV among other things.
My male cat tested a "weak positive" for FELV on the serology test for FELV but tested negative for the PCR test.
The other cat that donated tested negative for everything.
What the hell does this mean? I know that we will need to have him tested again in 1 1/2 month. But what do these results translate? What are his chances?
He never showed any signs of the disease, I have the training for vet tech (it is a very basic one) and my first cat suffered and died from it. I know what to look for but the difference in results is really throwing me out of the loop.
Everything in me is panicking, my husband thinks this is a false positive, i really want to annoy the vets in my life so in order to not to, I'm asking Reddit for help
