**Second adoption post for my two bonded kittens, Inana and Utu**
So this is the second time I’m putting up an adoption post for these two, and I think I need to explain the situation a little better because I’m getting a lot of messages from people who want to adopt *one* of them.
Getting these kittens was a complete accident. I wasn’t prepared to have two kittens, and I definitely didn’t plan on having them. They were orphaned after their mother was killed, and when I found them, I just knew I had to save them. I wasn’t really thinking about what would happen afterwards or whether I was equipped for this. I just knew that leaving them there wasn’t an option.
I don’t regret saving them. They’re genuinely lovely kittens. They’re extremely affectionate, they love being held, they want to be around you all the time, they want your attention, and they’re just really fun little babies.
The reason I’m trying to rehome them isn’t because they’re financially impossible to take care of or because they’re some huge burden. They’re actually very sweet with amazing personalities and relatively easy kittens.
It’s because **I’m not in a position to give them the environment they need.**My current living situation doesn’t really allow for two growing kittens. They’re confined to a relatively small room and they’re not allowed into my living area. When I first rescued them, they were tiny and this seemed manageable. But they’re growing now. They’re actively exploring, they want to run around, play, climb, investigate things, get stimulation, and just generally have space to be kittens and I can’t give them that.
I’m also just not in the mental space to take care of kittens right now. I have a lot going on myself, and even though they’re not particularly demanding, taking care of two living beings is still a commitment. Especially when they’re confined to a smaller space, I constantly worry that I’m going to slack off somewhere because I simply don’t have the capacity, and that eventually they’re going to be the ones who suffer for it.
I don’t want that.So yes, I need to find them a home. But I am not trying to get rid of them at any cost.
And this is where I’m having a really difficult time with the adoption process.
**Inana and Utu are bonded kittens. They need to be adopted together.**
I know people hear this and say, “It’s okay, we’ll give them a loving home, they’ll be fine separately.”
No, I actually researched this. I’ve read about bonded kittens and cats, and I even tried separating these two myself for a while because I wanted to make sure I wasn’t just assuming they were bonded because they’re siblings.
They are.
Their mother was killed, they were orphaned, and they had each other. They’ve been together through everything. They sleep together, play together, look for each other, eat together, and sometimes literally eat out of the same bowl. They are constantly next to each other.
They genuinely depend on each other for companionship and security.
So I’m not going to separate them because someone wants “just one kitten.”
And I really don’t want people to misunderstand this as me being difficult or unnecessarily picky about adoption. If you take one of them away from the other and put them in what you consider to be a loving home, that doesn’t automatically make it a loving situation FOR THAT KITTEN.
For these two, their sibling is part of their support system.
I’ve had people tell me they want to adopt them, despite me repeatedly explaining that they have to go together, and then at the last minute tell me they can only take one.
This has happened with a foster too. The foster had been told multiple times that these were bonded kittens and that they would have to stay together. Then literally an hour before they were supposed to arrive, I was told they could only take one.
I genuinely don’t understand why people do this.
I understand that two kittens are more responsibility than one. I’m not expecting somebody to take on something they can’t afford or don’t have the space for, if you know from the beginning that there are two kittens and that they MUST go together, please don’t agree to take them and then wait until the last minute hoping that I’ll just give in.
I’m also getting a lot of people asking me which one is younger and specifically looking for a kitten that’s around one month old.
I really don’t understand the obsession with getting the youngest possible kitten, especially from first-time cat owners.
A one-month-old kitten is tiny. It is still at an age where it would normally need its mother. Being smaller or younger doesn’t mean that it’s easier, healthier, or more suitable for someone who has never had a cat before.
Inana and Utu are still very young. They’re playful, affectionate, curious and developing their personalities, but they’re also at a point where they need space and stimulation.
And they need each other.
So at this point, I’m open to BOTH ADOPTION AND FOSTERING.
If someone can provide them with a safe, accepting environment where they can actually have space to play and explore, and where both kittens are welcome, I would genuinely consider a foster situation while we look for their permanent home.
I’m not trying to dump two kittens on someone because they’re inconvenient for me.
If I wanted the easiest solution for myself, I could just give them away separately and be done with it.
I’m not doing that because the easiest solution for me isn’t necessarily the safest solution for them**.**
I rescued them because they needed someone at that point in time.
Now I need to find someone who can give them what I currently can’t.
**Inana and Utu need to stay together.**
If you can take both, either permanently or as a foster, and you have the space and willingness to actually let them be kittens, please message me.
If you only want one kitten, I completely understand. But these two aren’t the kittens for you.
They come as a pair.
