Help with learning Russian

Hello! Recently, I met some amazing people who spoke Russian, but I didn’t, so it was difficult for us to communicate. I made a promise that when I see them again next year, I’ll be able to understand Russian fluently.
Do you have any tips I could use? I learned English by watching a lot of videos as a kid. Can I do the same with Russian, or not? If so, please recommend some videos!
