Precision Rifle for my Father

I would like to start by saying, I understand firearms (how to operate them yada yada) but I am not very knowledgeable on them. My father served in the army back in the day and used to use an M24 rifle. He also won a Leupold scope from a shooting match back in the 90's. It's his dream to have a solid bolt action rifle that he could mount that scope too and take the the range. Can anyone recommend me a rifle similar to the M24 that could be purchased?
Thank you in advance.
