Whole home quote check

Hi all,

We’re renovating a five bedroom detached house in SW Wales. As part of this we had planned to remove the LPG heating system and replace with an A2A heat pump / air conditioning setup throughout.

I’ve just received a quote and would be interested in thoughts from the hive mind. Headline figure is £20k give or take for:

* Wall units downstairs x4, all 3.5kW
* Four bedrooms served by a 6kW ducted system with zone controls, all fed through attic.
* An extra wall unit for a bedroom with no attic access, 2.5kW.

Two compressors, an 8kW and a 9kW. All Daikin kit with a ducted zoning add on for upstairs.

The quote includes all installation work including electrics. Installer says that we could potentially save £2k approx if we ditch the ducted unit and go for wall mounts upstairs, but I’d prefer to stick with ducted. It’s obviously not practically possible to claim the grant atm.

My wife also has some concerns about the house being cold. The installer has done a heat loss survey so I’m not too worried myself, but admittedly the lack of any units in hallways/landing is kinda difficult to explain away.

Thanks very much
