18 Years Old Little Girl

Vent

I want to get this out of me, because it hurts.

18 Years old, everyone tells me that it has been a long life, even more for a dog.

She came home as a gift from my sister's friend, on 2008. Just as we move in, she made this new place a fun and happy place for my and my brothers. Made even my dad care for her when he noticed the way her fluffy tail resemble a broom for the way it swing around when she run everywhere, calling her "Broom-tail". It wasnt funny, but seeing the old man crack a smile everytime he called her, was worth the cuckle.
Now 2026, she was there for almost all our lives thus far. So it pains to think, it was about time we said good bye.

After so long, her heart could no longer funtion properly, she could no longer pump out blood properly, making it difficult to breath, its been like this for a few months. Manageble with some pills, but this week it seems they didnt work for her anymore. So today i took the decision to put her to sleep.
In the moment i just thought "keep talking to her", to comfort her the most i could. The only thing that took me away from it was the realization of how quick everything went down.
From what i can recall from the moment, it was so fast and i didnt even have the time to react or even say good bye properly. I did my farewells but still, feels like i didnt. And now, its been hours since it happened, and all the questions are hitting me right now. "Was she scared? did she feel anything? Did it really help that i was there with her? did she know?".

I know that its useless to think this now, but they keep coming to my head. I regret not making sure to at least take our time before the final push went thro. Not sure what i wanted from writting this here, but i guess i wanted to get it out and now i did.

Her name was Josefina, she rest now. I'll miss you "Broom-tail". Haha it still isnt funny.
