I(30NB) met my friend "J"(30sM) on a website where we both share our writing content about a year and a half ago. We immediately hit it off and moved to Discord, where we proceeded to talk every day for 3 months straight until the communication leveled out a bit with us both participating in life stuff. Somewhere within this time frame, I developed a small crush on J and shot my shot, which he turned down. I was slightly upset but ultimately it did not affect our friendship at all and we proceeded to be very good friends until now. We've spoken nearly every day in these almost two years, and I've confided in him about many things in my life, including my other romantic endeavors, home life, work, etc. I considered him one of my best friends whom I trusted and respected deeply for his insight and support. However, now I'm not so sure. 

Yesterday, I had a rough break up with my boyfriend and turned to J for support. This led to me asking him if he'd ever be up for a phone call sometime, which we've never really done. (I know he's real- I've seen photos of him and we have sent voice clips to each other). J always was somewhat selective with what he shared with me, which I took as a quality of his personality and never thought too deeply about. He told me that maybe we could have a phone call at some point, but he'd have to "not be home, and not be busy while he's not home." I asked him what he meant by this and he told me that he doesn't like to have phone calls while others are around. I was confused by this because to my knowledge, he lived completely alone (besides two cats). He replied a couple hours later with some nature photos, but avoided my message where I stated I thought he lived alone, so I mentioned it again and told him I was still a little bit confused. J disclosed to me, almost two years later, that he is married. I'm not upset by this-in fact, I'm really happy for him. But I can't help but feel somewhat deceived, and like his lack of mentioning his wife was weirdly calculated. I mean, who doesn't mention their partner once in that amount of time? Why didn't he mention it when I shot my shot back then? He admitted to me upon me asking that I really don't know him at all, and I feel blindsided, like I had a completely different idea of him and our friendship than what was reality. And that that was intentional on his part. 

I guess the advice I'm looking for is, is this friendship salvageable? Or is this something that I should just willingly let go of? I don't know if I could really trust him after this, or if I'd be comfortable sharing information about myself again so quickly. But I really did enjoy and appreciate his presence in my life and the friendship I thought we had. Was it all a lie? What do you make of this/what would you do?
