Email Sync Problems

So I thought I had my game synced via gmail, I inputted my account and they sent me a code. Then when I got a new phone and tried to log in, the game only synced the version I just downloaded so it's only at the first level.

If I try to sync again with gmail, will I lose all my progress for the new version on level 1? Will it override it since I'm so far in the game? I do have an fb account but I'd prefer not to sync to that since I haven't used it in years and don't even remember the password.

Not sure if this has happened to anyone before so any help is much appreciated.
