My thoughts on the FNE box

So I played the box a bit now (at least each scenario once or twice and same for the villains) and these are my thoughts.

  1. It's a pity that all modular scenarios only feature a single main scheme (meaning just 1a/1b, not referring to Protection Racket). They really could have expanded the story here with additional main schemes. For instance, during "the getaway" they could have introduced a mechanic where the speed counters still advance the first scheme if you draw this one treachery, but the mechanic changes on the second main scheme so you don't auto lose to the speed counters.

The treachery cards could have then been adjusted accordingly depending on the current stage of the main scheme.

  1. I think would have been nice if there were more cards belonging to the scenario itself. I think even with an additional 5-10 cards, the encounter deck wouldn't have been too cluttered - especially since sometimes only 3-4 cards get shuffled in by the scenario. This would also have added to the scenarios feeling more distinct

  2. This is more of a personal preference, but I would have loved it if the villains from the previous scenarios were included as Elite minions in the Kingpin scenario. Perhaps as an additional modular set that only gets shuffled in once you reach the second stage, since Kingpin no longer needs to hide that he's behind the whole thing. That would have added great flavor. Maybe the second main scheme could say to only shuffle in the 4 Underlings you actually fought). I am also a big fan of having villains as minions so they can be used as an extra modular set in various other scenarios.

All in all I still really enjoy the box but I think it could have been even better.
