I built a desktop Google Calendar widget as a side project. Just got full Google OAuth verification & custom domain set up!
Hello,
I wanted to share an update on a side project I've been working on called Calendar On Demand.
It's a lightweight desktop widget (Windows & Mac) that sits directly on your desktop wallpaper, showing your Google Calendar schedule in real-time so you don't have to keep alt-tabbing to a browser tab.
When I shared an early version here, several people tried it out, but a common issue was Google's "403 access_denied / Unverified App" warning. Going through Google's OAuth verification process as a solo dev was quite a journey, but after setting up a custom domain (cal-ondemand.com) and passing Google's security review, the app is now officially verified. Logins now work seamlessly out of the box.
Quick overview of features:
- Live 2-way sync with Google Calendar right on your desktop
- Natural language event creation (typing "Tomorrow 2pm meeting" creates it automatically)
- One-click join links for Google Meet and Zoom calls directly from the widget
- Runs natively on Windows and Mac
It's 100% free.

Would love to get any feedback, suggestions, or thoughts from fellow side project builders!
