I've let myself go and it feels terrible

Support Needed (Kind Advice and Commiseration)

I (27F) have been diagnosed with level 1 autism since I was 23.

Over this summer especially, and honestly, the past couple years, I've let myself go.

I've gained about 40 pounds in the past two years. I'm short, 5'0, so it's quite noticeable. I slowly went to the gym less and less, to the point where the only exercise I usually get now is walking at work, or taking a walk at the end of the day.

I used to be very active for a long time. Weight lifting, running, yoga, all of that. But the past couple years, everything feels pointless. So, staying healthy feels pointless. With how awful the world is, and how hopeless American politics seems, I cant find any motivation.

I also have struggled more each year with my autism symptoms. Sensory issues, the heat, sunlight, being around people at all, keeps getting harder. So the sensations of working out, sweating, feeling too warm, and the people, has become unbearable.

Today, for a music performance, we had to go up around 7 flights of stairs. I was last to make it, very winded, and sweating profusely throughout the performance while the rest of the group was not. It felt horrible. My muscles were twitching and shaking for over an hour afterwards, because of how little activity I've had.

Feels bad. Sorry if this is the wrong sub.
