Disappointed so far
I've been using Tripit for while but the development has been so stagnant for a long time now, so I thought I would give Wanderlog a try, hoping for a more modern alternative. Quite early on I became pretty disappointed and am pretty discouraged to even give it more of a chance. Here are a few initial things that were disappointing:
-
You need to manually create a trip before you can forward confirmation emails, AND you have to use a different email address for every single trip you plan. Why would they do that? With Tripit, you just have one email and it will correctly place items in the right trip based on the date of the reservation, and will even create a trip for you from your forwarded email if you haven't created one yet. This feature seems so lacking in Wanderlog - for those of us who plan multiple trips I can't imagine having to manually save a new email address to my contacts every time, and have to carefully select the right email every time I want to forward something - after a while there would literally be dozens of wanderlog email addresses in my contacts to choose from when I forward something, unless I then spent even more time to go back and delete old wanderlog emails. Seems very silly or what am I missing?
-
No native feature for creating activities/tours for the itinerary - kinda crazy for a trip planning app.

It's quite petty to limit dark mode to the Pro version. I don't know that I've ever seen that before in any other app. Maybe wouldn't be a huge deal if I was excited to sign up for Pro anyway, but I'm really not.
Is Tripit still somehow the best at automatic itinerary organization, after years of completely stagnant development?
