Tmobile 2 year Contract is Ending within next 2 months

Hello, Im in Wichita, KS area and have been out of the loop on cellphones. I like doing my fair share of research but the frequencies that carriers buy and work on throws me off.

Anywho my fiance and I are on tmobiles classic 1000 min unlimited text + Data 2GB(throttled down afterwards) for $120 after taxes(student Discount). I was a fan of samsung when i got the Epic years ago, i currently have a Galaxy S2 and we want to look for 2 new cell phones, but shes pretty much set on the S4. The problem for me is we are not in a data coverage zone. I can get Tmobiles EDGE network but only 4G in city of wichita. Verizon seems to be everywhere here but I'm not looking forward to shelling the money out on overage charges and getting screwed over by Verizon.

Anyone have any suggestions for a phone/carrier that i can use data outside of wifi, hopefully no contract so i can get a new phone by end of year, easy to root, and decent size.

I know its general but we are going to tmobile store this weekend to see what they have to offer, but I'd rather get a community opinion on top of the salesman opinion.

thanks, endo.

r/NoContract might be able to help you.

Off the top of my head, straight talk and aio wireless are at&t mvnos, while republic wireless (with a $300 moto x) is sprint. I wouldn't know what's good or bad in your area.

http://www.verizonwireless.com/wcms/consumer/shop/prepaid.html/#plans

Verizon prepaid - $60 per month per person, unlimited talk and text, 2 GB data.

The Moto G has been recommended lots around here. $99, all the specs you need.

Unfortunately you can't get a S4 on this plan though...

Nor would you be able to get LTE

I don't know if you've been out in the middle of nowhere USA, but there doesn't tend to be LTE on any carrier at all. Also, HSPA is good enough, especially if the guy's been living with EDGE speeds pretty much everywhere for 2 years.

Well Verizon 3G is CDMA not hspa+ so it's max speed is 3mbps I believe
