Question about N400
Question about I-751 and N-400 under the 3-year rule
I’m looking for some advice from people who have experience with the I-751/N-400 process.
For tax year 2024, I filed my taxes on time. My wife and I filed Married Filing Separately because her father had claimed her on his taxes. My wife later filed her 2024 tax return in 2026. She owed $68, and she paid the full amount immediately after filing.
For tax year 2025, we filed Married Filing Jointly, and we plan to continue filing jointly.
I have already filed my I-751 and am currently waiting for an interview. I’m also planning to apply for N-400 under the 3-year rule based on my marriage to a U.S. citizen.
Could my wife filing her 2024 tax return late, even though she only owed $68 and paid it immediately, cause any problems with my I-751 or N-400? My own 2024 taxes were filed on time.
Has anyone been in a similar situation or dealt with USCIS regarding something like this? I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences. Thank you!
