Looking for tips/advice: anyone have experience with the the Profoto A2 light and the Clic modifiers?
Hi. I’m looking for some guidance. I’m thinking about buying a Profoto A2 and a Clic Softbox to streamline my lighting setup. I have recently developed severe lower pack pain and schlepping around medium/large lights, stands, etc. is rough. So is setting some of them up. Even with a rolling cart, I sometimes feel wrecked after even a small on location session.
I’m looking for something I can travel really light with for portraits and the occasional one light food photography setup while I try to get my back squared away through physical therapy.
The small footprint and fast setup with the Clic stuff appeals to me because I photograph a lot of people when doing photojournalism work who often have almost no time in their schedules and I have to get in, set up, and get out really quickly. Also, I do some handheld OCF stuff, too, and the A2 seems nicely sized for that. I was going to pick up a MERF stand to try to keep the stand lightweight, as well.
Two main questions:
- Would this possibly be a good combo for quick setup/breakdown and less back pain, even if some of my work will be outdoors? I've seen mixed things online about using it in midday light. Most of my stuff will be indoors.
- I’m tempted to use this for my food photo lighting setup as well and stick to mostly one light - any Clic accessories I should keep an eye on that are worth the price for that type of photography if I wanted to incorporate it into that, as well?
Any tips/advice/thoughts are much appreciated.
