I ran into a problem connecting my **Xbox One** to an Xfinity WiFi hotspot. The Xbox would connect to the network, but it would not give me anywhere to enter my Xfinity username and password.
The fix was surprisingly simple.

Step 1: **Connect to the Xfinity hotspot**
**On your Xbox**:

**Settings** → **General** → **Network Settings** → **Set Up Wireless Network**

Select: (**xfinitywifi**) not (**~~XFinity Mobile)~~**
**Connect** to it.
Your Xbox may say that “*there is no internet connection”* or that *additional authentication is required*. That’s **normal**.

Step 2: **Open Microsoft Edge**
**After** connecting to xfinitywifi, **open** the **Microsoft Edge** browser on your Xbox.

**DO NOT DISCONNECT FROM THE WIFI NETWORK**

Step 3: **Go to this website (www.neverssl.com)**

Then press **Enter**.

Step 4: **Wait** for the **Xfinity login page**
Instead of loading normally, the website should force the Xfinity captive portal to appear.
You should now see the page where you can enter your:
● Xfinity username / Xfinity ID
● Xfinity password

Step 5: **Sign in**

Enter your Xfinity account information and complete the **login** process.
Once authenticated, return to your Xbox and your internet connection should work normally.

Why this works

neverssl.com uses a basic, non-secure HTTP connection. Public WiFi networks such as Xfinity use a captive portal that intercepts these requests and redirects you to their login page.
Sometimes Xbox does not automatically trigger that login page. Opening neverssl.com manually forces the redirect.
This same method may also work with other public WiFi networks where the login page refuses to appear on Xbox or other devices with browsers.
