Do I stop drinking with a friend who has an issue with alcohol?

I have a friend who I noticed I thought he might have an issue with alcohol. For example, I know he drinks alone at his house, when he drinks he seems to get really sad, he has told me that he is uncomfortable with the amount of money he spends on it, etc. He actually stopped drinking on his own, I didn't even mention how I noticed it might be a concern. He just randomly told me like 2 months ago how he's gone 3 months without drinking. He seemed proud of himself. Then, without explaining why or giving any warning about it, he started drinking again. He recently sent me a selfie where he appeared impaired and he sent me some texts explaining some bars he has gone to and drinks he has had etc. We do not hang out a lot, but we are supposed to hang out soon for a celebration and he wants to go to bars. I am not sure what to do. Should I go out with someone I suspect has issues with alcohol? In the past when we have gone out, he gets really rowdy and doesn't act himself when drunk. Honestly him stopping drinking was a relief, and I wish he would've kept it up. But, I don't feel like I can tell him what to do. And the celebration we are going to have is for him, so I don't want to make it about what we can and can't do when we go out. Is it wrong for me to drink with someone who may be an alcoholic?
