Title: Do you think she’ll ever come back after ending things so suddenly?
I’m 20M and she’s 18F. We had a talking stage that lasted around a month, and I’m genuinely confused about whether she’ll ever come back or if I need to completely accept that it’s over.
For context, she actually followed me on TikTok about a year before we started talking. I post guitar videos, and she used to like basically everything I posted and sometimes comment. Eventually I noticed her, followed her back, and messaged her. We exchanged socials and things became serious pretty quickly.
For the first 3 weeks or so, everything was honestly amazing. She was extremely interested in me. She would get jealous, tell me she missed me, call me almost every night, double text me, wait for my messages, and sometimes call if I didn’t reply because she was scared I was losing interest. She constantly reassured me that she wanted me and was very affectionate. There was also a lot of physical/sexual intimacy between us despite us not officially being in a relationship yet. She complimented my looks, my body, my personality, my guitar, etc., and she always made it clear that she thought I was a good guy compared to guys she’d dealt with before. She specifically appreciated that I wasn’t just talking to her for sexual reasons.
Then we had one stupid argument. I got angry about something relatively minor and became cold/dry toward her even though she was actually trying to comfort me. She eventually went to sleep while we were still fighting. The next morning I wanted to apologize, but she left me on delivered. While ignoring me, she posted a story basically saying that making drama at this age is embarrassing. I eventually got frustrated and messaged her saying that if she didn’t want to talk, she could just tell me instead of leaving me on delivered and playing games.
She continued ignoring me for around a day and a half while posting normally. Eventually I called her. She hung up and sent me several voice notes explaining everything.
She said she was sorry for taking so long to respond and that she knew ignoring me wasn’t fair. She said I’m a great guy but we’re not compatible, she’s starting university and wants to live her life, and she doesn’t want to commit. She also specifically said that she didn’t end things simply because of our argument and that she wasn’t that immature. According to her, she’d already been thinking about it and had made her decision clearly and calmly. She repeatedly said that her decision was final and that she wasn’t going to change it.
She wished me the best and said she hoped I met someone better. She also said she really hoped we could still be friends.
I replied respectfully, apologized for my part in the argument, told her I understood and respected her decision, wished her a good university experience, and said goodbye. I didn’t expect her to reply to that, but she eventually did after about 3 days.
She started by apologizing for taking so long and said she had been busy and had actually forgotten to listen to my voice notes until she was going through her chats and remembered. She then listened to them and sent me another voice note around 1 minute long. She thanked me, said she really appreciated my apology and that she knew I was a good guy, and again explained that she had thought carefully about her decision and that it was final. She again wished me the best and said she hoped we could still be friends.
I listened to her voice note but didn’t respond. I also turned off my WhatsApp read receipts, partly because I honestly didn’t want to give her the satisfaction of knowing I was immediately waiting for her response, and partly because I didn’t know what else to say.
After everything, I deleted our chat and her number and unfollowed her everywhere because I know keeping her on my feed would make me constantly check her stories and stay attached. She hasn’t blocked me, hasn’t unfollowed me, and as far as I can tell she hasn’t removed me from her social media. She still follows me even though I unfollowed her.
What’s confusing me is that she still watches my WhatsApp stories. In fact, after the ending, she started viewing them very quickly, even though she wasn’t really someone who used to watch my stories before all this. I’ve also noticed that she still views my stuff despite us no longer talking.
I don’t watch her stories anymore because I don’t want to stalk her or keep myself attached, but obviously part of me wonders if she notices that I suddenly stopped viewing hers since I used to watch basically everything she posted.
I know her decision was extremely clear and I’m not trying to convince myself that she’s secretly coming back. But I’m struggling because the way she acted before ending things was so intense. She seemed genuinely scared of losing me, and then within a very short period she completely changed direction.
I don’t know whether she had been slowly losing interest for a while, whether university and wanting freedom played the biggest role, whether she simply got bored, or whether she met someone else. I also don’t know whether “we’re not compatible” was the real reason or just the easiest explanation to give me.
I don’t think all of her feelings were fake because there were too many consistent things throughout the month, but I also can’t understand how someone can be that invested and then make such a final decision.
So my question is: Do you think there’s any realistic chance she’ll eventually regret her decision and come back or text me again, even though she repeatedly said her decision was final?
Especially considering that she still follows me, hasn’t blocked me or removed me, and continues viewing my stories even though I’ve stopped viewing hers.
I’m not asking whether I should wait for her — I know I shouldn’t. I’m asking purely from an outside perspective: do you think she’ll ever come back?
