Hiring manager claims i'm his top choice, co-founders are bringing in a new candidate...
So I began this process at the end of June. Two one hour interviews with the SVP Finance (my would be boss/hiring manager). Then submitted a case study in which they claimed was the best they've ever received. Then had a final interview with one hour panel with the two co-founders, then another hour with a separate VP. Final interview ran 40 minutes over, thought it was a good sign.
Two weeks later still no update; until today. Apparently one co-founder didn't think I was enough of a 'go getter' and 'too soft spoken' even though we only spoke for 30 minutes before he left for a meeting. So per my recruiter, they are now bringing in a candidate with twice as much experience as me that the company initially rejected due to their high salary demands/above their budget.
My recruiter wants me to wait and be patient and claims I'm still the top choice, but clearly there's a lack of confidence in me, and I'm ready to remove myself from consideration on Monday. Is it my frustration talking? I'm not sure how we could start off on the right foot when there's questions about my abilities from day 1...ugh.
