I LOVE THEM! This seriously feeds my inner child!

(I have something a bit personal to share about what this movie means to me.)

This being 25 years ago! This was around the time I had the first worst thing that ever happened to me, losing my grandmother to cancer. (I saw her fight it up to the end). But a shock to my system it was to see it all entailed. I was plunged into darkness, childhood depression. I was diagnosed with early childhood depression, had psychiatrists and psychologists. It was a hard time, one I don’t like to relive. But this movie, Atlantis: The Lost Empire was at this time when everything changed for me and it was a movie that still brought me wonder and awe. It kept me afloat when I felt I was swimming downstream trying to keep going. (I dealt with a lot of things a lot to unpack).

But long story short, 25 years. Having these. I made it. It’s a marker in time I’m now an adult and lived through all the things I thought as I grew from a child, to a teen then an adult that I wouldn’t make it. BUT THEN I DID. And that’s really why I knew I had to get it. Feeding my inner child.

Another point I connect with is at the beginning Kida loses her Mahtim, her Mother. And my grandmother had felt like a second mother to me in ways too. So I mourned her death as a child in that scene. (I literally had watched the movie at home when I was too broken to go to my grandmother’s funeral, there was kindness that I wasn’t forced to go). I watched it again and the meaning of everything I had watched originally in the movie theaters, instantly changed. Then I feared my own mother’s death. It was a generational movie for me. And as a little girl I also had one of my first crushes on Michael J. Fox loved him as Milo.

And when I watched it again as an adult. It’s surreal I watched it as if I was seven years old even when I know so much has passed me by. And when Kida survives the transformation and makes it back to Milo towards the end I felt I made it back through all the things I faced like Kida I made it back as an adult.

So yeah this meant a lot to me to get these 🥹❤️‍🔥🩵🩵

I GOT MILO AND KIDA! 🩵🩵
