It’s an early 2000s post-punk song that I thought was by a Long Island band called The Stryder. I’ve listened to what I believe is their entire catalog and haven’t heard it again. I used to listen to the song in college constantly, circa 2004. But it was downloaded via a torrent website.

Lyrics

It starts of quiet and melodic with the lyrics “I fell asleep and I don’t know how I woke up in Chicago” and has a line that goes “Am I asking to much when I expect respect from the people I make sure I stick out my neck for”

Then at the end, it goes into a cascading repetitive chorus:
“what’s the matter Jane said, do you still feel the same anymore? I said you know it wasn’t like this and things will always change forever more.”
